Short answer: yes, but the tutor is still human. Preply is a marketplace of live, human tutors, and it uses AI around the lessons rather than instead of them. In August 2025 Preply announced three AI features — Lesson Insights (AI summaries of each lesson), Daily Exercises (short practice activities between lessons) and Scenario Practice (tutor-assigned speaking exercises) — rolling out first to English learners and tutors. Preply describes its app as “human-led, AI-enabled”. If you are looking for an AI that replaces the tutor, this is not it; if you want a human tutor with AI support between lessons, it is one of the clearest examples.

Lesson Insights: AI Summaries After Every Lesson
According to Preply’s help centre, Lesson Insights are “AI-generated lesson summaries that provide personalized feedback on vocabulary, grammar, and speaking, along with tailored exercise suggestions.” They are produced by transcribing the lesson audio and analysing the transcript with AI; video is not recorded for this.
- Who gets it: Preply says all English tutors and English-subject learners have access. Other languages are not covered yet.
- What you see: grammar corrections, key vocabulary and synonyms, speaking feedback and suggested next steps, available near the end of the lesson and afterwards.
- Control: learners and tutors can each switch the feature on or off at any time.
- Privacy: Preply states that the data is encrypted and handled under GDPR, and that you can delete the audio, transcripts and insights whenever you choose.
Daily Exercises and Scenario Practice
Daily Exercises are what Preply calls “bite-sized, self-learning activities that connect content from lessons and learner’s focus areas” — practice in the app between sessions, built from what you covered with your tutor. Scenario Practice is “tutor-assigned, real-world speaking exercises” to build speaking confidence between lessons; the Preply app page still labels it a beta. Both started with English learners, with other languages planned.
What Preply’s AI Does Not Do
- It does not teach the lesson. The live lesson is a human tutor; the AI summarises and gives you practice afterwards.
- It is not available for every subject. The AI features are documented for English first. Learners of other languages, or of maths or coding, should not expect them yet.
- It is not an independent measure of progress. AI feedback on a transcript is useful for spotting repeated mistakes, but it is still software reading a transcript of an imperfect recording; your tutor’s judgement is the better guide.
