AI Chatbots & Assistants
The frontier AI assistants compared. Context windows, multimodal capabilities, and ecosystem.
The frontier assistants are close enough on general ability that benchmark tables are the least useful way to choose between them. The differences that show up in daily use are structural: how much material you can put in front of the model at once, whether it can use tools or reach the live web rather than answering from training data alone, and how it behaves at the edges of what it knows - some hedge, some assert.
Two practical checks beat any leaderboard. First, run your own real task through each one, not a puzzle: the work you actually do will separate them faster than a reasoning test designed to be hard. Second, read the data terms before you paste anything sensitive. Whether your inputs can be used to train future models, whether that can be turned off, and whether the consumer and business tiers differ on this point are all answerable questions, and the answers are not the same across vendors.
